Channel V plays backup for local bands
- Channel V creates marketing opportunities for local bands like Pesawat
- Creates event and contest to hype Pesawat's music video debut
- Is just one of more regional efforts to give bands in Asia exposure
- Channel V's online platform for Asian music shows strong Malaysian support
Malaysia - In line with Channel V's brand commitments to supporting music artists around the region, the entertainment channel is helping local rock band Pesawat create hype for its music video debut with a launch event on board a Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777.
The event will see Channel V gather the press and fans of the band at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) next Tuesday for a first glimpse of the new music video.
Pesawat, which means airplane in English, will also perform at a KLIA departure lounge and a contest for tickets to the launch event is currently underway on the Malaysian Airlines Travel fan page on Facebook. Channel V and Pesawat's MySpace site will also promote the event and contest.
This exposure for Pesawat is thought to be just one of many Channel V initiatives lined up this year to help local bands gain regional recognition.
A Channel V spokesperson said the company was currently "exploring collaboration opportunities with partners for regional promotional events in SE Asia this summer."
However, the spokesperson declined to divulge any additional information at press time.
Pesawat music video Mirage premieres exclusively on Channel V's AMP Around Asia programming on 7 June. AMP or Asia's Music Platform is also an online platform for Asian bands and artists to promote themselves and their music.
It launched in 2006 and has over 7,500 registered artists while Malaysia has the strongest presence on AMP at 39%.
