Regional - CNBC Asia Pacific president and managing director Jeremy Pink has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of business news and will be relocating to the US.

Pink originally moved from CNBC in the US to take up the top job in APAC at the end of 2005. He starts his new role on 8 June.

A CNBC spokesperson told Marketing that the company was currently looking internally and externally for a replacement for Pink. The spokesperson said Pink will continue to look after APAC in the interim until a replacement is found.

In a memo sent to staff Mark Hoffman, CNBC president, said: "Jeremy has done an outstanding job over the last three years as president and managing director of CNBC in Asia based in Singapore. His energetic and innovative approach led to record ratings and operating profit for our Asian franchise where his team built the foundation for long-term success. CNBC has an extraordinarily strong veteran team in place in Asia that will allow us to manage seamlessly during this transitional period. Given that we want to build on the tremendous momentum we are experiencing in Asia, we have already initiated a search to replace Jeremy to ensure that CNBC continues to be the fastest growing source and most respected voice in business in Asia."

Pink has spent almost a decade at CNBC, at roles in Europe and the US, and has previously had other stints in television in Asia and with CNN in the US.
