Toothpaste & telcos tops in Singapore
- Survey unveils top brands in Singapore
- Colgate and Google on top
- Four local brands on the list
Singapore - Toothpaste, telecommunications and digital brands are ranked as Singapore consumer's favorite brands, according to results from the latest brand survey from Superbrands and The Nielsen Company.
The survey findings identified over 500 of Singapore consumers' favourite brands across 93 categories of consumer products and services. Somewhat surprisingly, toothpaste brand Colgate tied with Google with the most number of votes, followed by StarHub which was also the highest ranked home grown brand. In total, four Singapore brands made it into the top ten list while the other places were occupied by some of the world's most well known brands.
"The overall results are extremely interesting and reflect brand popularity with Singapore's consumers. Some very big brand names in Singapore which one might have expected to appear in the Superbrands top ten did not make it onto this year's list, while some brands made a surprising entry directly into the top tier," Mark Pointer, CEO of Superbrands Singapore, said.
"It's also interesting to note the relative positions of brands that compete within the same category such as Google vs Yahoo, and StarHub vs SingTel. The survey was conducted just over a month ago and hence represents a very current finger on the pulse of Singapore consumers and their predisposition towards brands and brand choice."
