earth9 promotes values of YOG
- YOG launches interactive site
- Aimed to create early buzz
- Features virtual torch relay
Singapore - The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Organising Committee has teamed up with interactive agency earth9 to launch the Million Deeds Challenge microsite and promote the values of the event.
The site has been designed to resemble a virtual Olympic torch relay where members can submit a virtual deed of excellence, friendship and respect - the core values of the Youth Games - which sees the torch move a further step along the torch relay.
The individual who submits a deed is then the torch bearer until someone else submits a deed and the torch is passed on. Every deed posted will move the virtual flame a step closer from Greece to Singapore. Already there have been over 4000 deeds posted on the milliondeeds.com.sg site.
"Fundamentally, the organising committee wanted to promote the values of the Youth Olympics - excellence, friendship and respect - and create a buzz about the Games," Earl Allan, managing director of earth9. said.
"In order to achieve this the committee looked at how they could reach out to youth beyond the shores of Singapore in a way that would promote these values."
The site will run until the launch of the 2010 Youth Olympic Games - exactly 500 days from today.
