Global - Singapore Airlines has retained incumbent Mediaedge:cia (MEC) to handle its coveted US$50 million global media account after a five-month pitch, defeating OMD at the final stage.
Singapore Airlines confirmed to Marketing that MEC had been reappointed. In a statement Stephen Forshaw, Singapore Airlines' vice president of public affairs, said "the selection process was detailed, and agencies presented very good, comprehensive submissions. We won't discuss the detail of the submissions, the reasons for the decision or the terms of the reappointment. We look forward to continuing our partnership with MEC and further strengthening the Airline's media objectives going forward."
Like many airlines across the globe, Singapore Airlines has been forced to cut flights to many destinations due to declining passenger traffic. TBWA handles Singapore Airlines' creative account, while MEC has worked with the airline for the past eight-years.
